The main argument of the article include two parts: The first part is about the situation and predicament of the studies on Lu Xun in the new century. With the return of the academic logic and the highlight of the folk nature of academic researches, a dividing line in terms of standpoints and value evaluation of the studies on Lu Xun has been clearly marked out. From an overall point of view, the ideological changes and divergence of views embodied in “God”, “Ghost” and “Human”. The changes and disagreement of views stem from researchers subjective consciousness and from the different environment nurturing the academic thoughts. There are two embodiments specifically explain the phenomenon, one is in the reinforcement of the academic logic of the research object and research conclusion. Another one is in the researchers’ shift of political discourse to academic discourse. The second part is on three different basic paradigms and their significance throughout the academic history of Lu Xun studies. The three paradigms specifically are, the historical studies featuring the exploration of historical documents; the academic studies centering on the knowledge interpretation and aesthetic evaluation; the contemporary studies emphasizing the pursuit of the contemporary meaning and the value of Lu Xun’s thoughts, or the correlation studies of the contemporary value and social function of Lu Xun researches. Each paradigm is an academic exploration and interpretation of the sophisticated spiritual world of Lu Xun. In the meanwhile, they contradict each other to some extent and play different roles in values.
I.Primary Innovation and Academic Significance
The principle innovation of the article lies in following aspects: The article not only provides the analysis and judgement of the current situation of Lu Xun studies and reckons that there are differences and transferences between different ideological values but also puts forward the predicament as well as opportunities of the academic studies. Lu Xun researches is an academic plateau. In the course of the studies, there is limit space for exploration, which gives rise to the repetitive, detail-oriented and paradoxical researches. The disparity between the academic standpoints shows the diversity in values. What lie behind are the changes of intellectuals’ ideology due to the social transformation and the differentiation of social ideology. Furthermore, the article offers a thorough analysis of the formation and current state of the research paradigms of Lu Xun’s academic development. First, the article reckons that the historical study paradigm is both effective and restrictive in ‘reviving Lu Xun’. Second, the article explains the value and deviation of the academic study paradigm. Finally, the article gives its view on the correlated research paradigm. The correlated paradigm, which focuses on the relations between contemporary value and social function and Lu Xun researches, discusses a topic that beyond academic history and pursues the understanding and realization of Lu Xun’s ideological value, or emphasizes the contemporary specific meaning of the value and function of Lu Xun researches.
