With a view to reality issues in terms of national strategic security and regional peace and stability in Northeast Asia and based on theories and methods of regional history and historical materials of the Koguryo of Korean documents, the project makes an in-depth analysis of the historical origin of Koguryo’s historical materials through the compilation from Korean documents. The project makes efforts to reveal the historical view of Koguryo held by the ancient literati on the Korean Peninsula and strives to construct the historical view of Koguryo from Korean documents in the Chinese academic circle. The project penetrates systematically and comprehensively the cognition of the historical materials of Koguryo from Korean documents completes the world discourse system by offering historical view of Koguryo in Chinese academic circle. The project has concluded that the history of Koguryo should be an integral part of the genealogy of ancient Chinese history through well-founded and evidences-provided studies, which should be integrated into the complete historical system of ancient Chinese history.
The project, based on the current achievements of related studies at home and abroad, has systemically and comprehensively collated and sort out the historical materials of Koguryo from Korean documents and then made the thorough and deep analysis accordingly. The discrimination of origins and academics offers clear distinction between true and false upon historical materials from Korean documents among the academic circle. Mistakes arise from the very origin, based on such proposition, the project objectively assesses the historical value of the historical materials of Koguryo from Korean documents, and breaks the chaos of the studies on Koguryo. It corrects the misunderstanding of the history of Kogoryo caused by the arbitrary misinterpretation and the false claims of ancient history pedigree of the Korean Peninsula by both official and private compilation of historical records of Koguryo presided by Kogoryo and Joseon Dynasties. The project has established the correct historical view of Kogoryo.
