Collected Papers of Historiography

Sponsored by Jilin University and authorized by the Ministry of Education,theCollected Papers of Historiography (the Paper) is published and distributed to readers at home and abroad. Its first publication came out in 1956 at the Department of History of then Northeast People's University (the currently Jilin University).Professor Ding Zeliang, jointly with his editing team from the academic committee of the Department of History, Northeast People's University, was responsible for the publication. The Paper was originally issued by half a year until 1958 when its publication was suspended for some reason. In 1981, after the approval from the Ministry of Education, the Paper restarted its publication. Mr. Yu Xingwu,who is a prestigioushistorian and exegesis interpreter, inscribed the title of the Paper. With a new editing committee founded, the Paper changed its regular publication interval to quarterly and later to bimonthly in 2006. The first Editor-in-Chief, in charge of publication after the Paper resumed, was Professor Li Shiyue. Then Professor Zhang Zhongpei, Professor Zhao Xiyuan, Professor Liang Xizhe and Professor Liu Debin served the position successively. The currently Editor-in-Chief is Professor Yang Jun.

The Paper, since its birth, is an upholder of the concept that seeks truth from facts and explores innovation continuously. Aiming to keeping the flame of knowledge burning and carrying forward Chinese history and culture, the Paper has refused to drift with the stream or to cater to vulgar tastes but only pursues high quality and lofty spirit of academic research above all. Indifferent to fame and gain in the pursuit of true essence in sphere of learning, the Paper has poured its heart to build a pure and refined academic platform for academic fellows. It has been over half a century since the Paper came out. With a large amount of superior academic works published and numbers of excellent learners cultivated, the Paper has enjoyed a high academic reputation among the history field at home and abroad. It has witnessed the history research development of the new China. Adhering to the principle of impartiality in reviewing papers for publication, the Paper has attached importance to the planning of publication as well as academic frontier and hot themes. Many of its published academic achievements work their profound influences across the academic world.

The Paper has sourced its materials from Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) and has awarded the National Chinese Core Journals,Core Journals of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences as well as National University Quality Journal. Relying on maintaining its high editing quality from beginning to end, the Paper was granted as the Excellent Editing Journal by China Periodicals Association in 2008.

The Paper consists of following main columns, namely Research on the History of Ming and Qing Dynasties;Monographic Study; The Very Translation of Foreign Papers;Monograph in the History of International Relations; The Theory and History of Historiography; Study on Regional History;PhD Forum; Academic Thought Contending;Full-length Monograph.

The publication has stuck at the policy of “Three Equal Emphases and Two Highlights”- laying equal stress on Chinese history and world history,ancient history and modern times as well as basic theory research and hot issues research; highlighting both the interdisciplinary studies and exploration of novel ideas. Underpinned by historiography studies, the Paper has closely combined history with the rest exploration of humanities and social sciences and has explained main process of historical and scientific development from a comprehensive perspective, which aims to radiate the vitality of traditional historical studies.

The Paper boasts a panel of high standard editors. Among the total eight editors, six are professors, one is an associate professor and one is a lecturer. All editors have gained doctoral degrees, of which six have had experiences in studying abroad or giving lectures. The editing panel has a reasonable age structure with each member taking an active part in the forefront of teaching and scientific research. Each editor has his own academic specialization that allows him to be very familiar with the academic situation and frontiers of related field and thus facilitates him to make the best judgement on the academic development. Meanwhile, each editor has grasped a deep understanding of related academic field to utilize such accumulated experiences in editing. Throughout the entire publication process from selecting, revising to editing, the panel, referring to the research standard of associated field, has been striving to produce the most distinctive and valuable papers among the similar academic studies.
